Thesaurus Editor

A Thesaurus contains the authorized subject terms by which the documents are indexed and retrieved. Terms are here not organized within a hierarchical structure.

With the help of this small editor you can create a simple thesaurus list.

Working with the Thesaurus Editor

So enter the desired word in the field above on the left and press ENTER so that you save a change to the mouse.

An examination whether the stop word is already existing in the list is carried out. Check "Add case sensitive" to add several terms case sensitive e.g. "HTMLHelp" and "HtmlHelp".

A thesaurus normally will indicate which terms have the same meaning, which terms denote a broader or narrower category of the same kind, and which are related in some other way.

So add broader terms (BT), narrower terms (NT), related terms (RT) and better terms (USE) comma seperated in one line.

The first word in every line is the valid thesaurus term. A thesaurus entry in a simple list might appear as follows:

HH, HTMLHelp
WinHelp
Help2
XML, Extensible Markup Language, XSLT, XLink, XHTML, SGML, Markup Language, HTML

To delete thesaurus words from the list please go following steps:

  1. Mark some entries with the mouse.
  2. Click on the button with the sign "<".
  3. Confirm the query for every stop word.

Note

If you plan to generate an index from multilingual HTML sides, please create a list that includes all thesaurus words in the different languages.
